Welcome to My Healthy Baby

When I introduced my baby to food over a year ago, it was a time when I truly started to read food labels. Boy did I get a shock! The greatest shock came from products that were aimed at kids, such as children's cereals or yoghurts. They are full of sugar! I started to look around at healthier alternatives and wanted to share my findings with you.

Before we get started, it is important when reading food labels to combine the Nutritional Information that you get alongside the list of Ingredients. Why? Because a product can appear to be high in sugar content when in fact the sugar is sourced naturally through fruit juice. The nutritional content of an apple is quite high in sugar but it doesn't mean that it is bad for you. Where as sweets that are high in refined sugar can be bad for you.

I took the decision to try and feed my daughter foods that are sweetened with fruit juice and other natural products rather than sugar. That doesn't mean to say that it is the right decision for you. Fruit juice may not always be better for you that sugar either so it is something that you may need to research further and make up your own mind.
